The intruder is the man’s future self. His girlfriend leaving him was, and is, the cause of his downfall. Why, you may ask? One: The shadow that casts from the intruder towers above the man; this implies that he has some type of connection to it. Two: The man knowingly types the laptop’s password, and even though he is surprised at its contents at first, he smiles by the end; probably meaning he has, or had, some type of exposure to such media before. Three: This may be somewhat of a stretch, but it seems both characters have the same outfit; only being differentiable thanks to the intruder’s greasy hair, and tired eyes, further fueling my theory.
