first of all, you're referring to iconoclasm, which was done about 842AD, so it's a very, very strange argument to make about modern day Christians forcing religion, thats like being mad at german people for WWII. second of all, these werent done to force Christianity, this was done because for years, it was illegal to be Christian by the greek-roman empire, Christians who refused to denounce their faith faced horrific public executions. They were stripped of their civic rights, had their property and scriptures confiscated, were forced into hard labor in mines, or were fed to wild beasts in public arenas. it may not justify the actions of those who destroyed the statues, but this was a matter of rebellion not forcing religion
