Explanation: Baibars had a couple rough young years forced from slavery in the Caspian Sea to Islam in the Levant, Salahaldin Al-Ayyubi, or Saladin, showed mercy to the Crusaders and Christians, Jews, of Jerusalem. Baibars was outraged over the fact that Crusaders, even after their defeat, kept rallying attacks on the Muslim territories even after the peace and fall of Jerusalem's surrender and decided it was time to finish the job that Salahaldin started. Religiously, hurting and destroying churches is forbidden in Islam, and is one of the biggest religious mistakes Baibars could have done. However, he also avenged the blood of many fallen fellow Muslims (from his point of view) lost to Crusader raids. Many of the churches he "retook" were mosques that were converted into churches during the first crusades.
