💪 BENCH PRESS & INCLINE BENCH: MAX RESULTS FORM GUIDE Most guys bench for years and never fix these basics. Here's how to actually build chest, not just move weight. 🔻 FLAT BENCH PRESS 1️⃣ Setup First Plant your feet flat on the floor, drive them down. Arch your upper back slightly and pull your shoulder blades together and down - this protects your shoulders and gives you a stable base to push from. 2️⃣ Grip Width Hands slightly wider than shoulder width. Too wide stresses your shoulders, too narrow shifts work to your triceps. Your forearms should be vertical at the bottom of the rep. 3️⃣ Bar Path Lower the bar to your mid-chest / nipple line, not your neck. The bar should travel in a slight diagonal - down toward your chest, up and slightly back toward your face. 4️⃣ Elbow Angle Keep elbows at roughly 45-75 degrees from your torso. Flaring them straight out to 90 degrees is the #1 cause of shoulder pain in bench pressers. 5️⃣ Control the Descent Lower the bar for 2-3 seconds. Don't bounce it off your chest - that's ego lifting, not muscle building. A controlled eccentric builds more strength and size. 6️⃣ Full Range of Motion Touch your chest lightly, then drive back up to full lock out. Partial reps limit chest development over time. 🔺 INCLINE BENCH PRESS 1️⃣ Bench Angle Set the bench between 15-30 degrees. Anything higher turns it into a shoulder press and takes emphasis off your upper chest, which is the whole point of this exercise. 2️⃣ Bar/Dumbbell Path Lower to your upper chest, just below your collarbone. This targets the clavicular head of the pecs that flat bench doesn't hit as well. 3️⃣ Don't Overarch A slight arch is fine, but excessive arching on incline turns it back into a flat press. Keep your lower back close to the bench. 4️⃣ Slow Eccentric, Explosive Concentric Lower under control, then push up with intent. This tension is what drives upper chest growth, not just moving the weight from A to B. 5️⃣ Dumbbells Are Underrated Dumbbell incline press allows a deeper stretch and more natural bar path. If you're chasing upper chest size specifically, prioritize dumbbells over barbell here. ⚙️ MAX RESULTS TIPS FOR BOTH ✅ Progressive Overload - Add small amounts of weight or reps weekly. Growth happens over months, not sessions. ✅ Mind-Muscle Connection - Actually feel your chest working, not just your triceps and shoulders taking over. ✅ Rep Range - 6-10 reps for strength and size, with 2-3 minutes rest between sets. ✅ Don't Skip Warm-up Sets - 2-3 warm-up sets with lighter weight prevents injury and primes the movement pattern. ✅ Train Chest 2x Per Week - One flat-focused day, one incline-focused day for balanced development. ✅ Track Your Lifts - If you don't know what you lifted last week, you can't progressively overload properly. 🚫 COMMON MISTAKES KILLING YOUR GAINS ❌ Bouncing the bar off your chest ❌ Flaring elbows to 90 degrees ❌ Half reps with heavy weight ❌ Incline bench set too steep ❌ No leg drive or unstable feet ❌ Ego lifting instead of controlled tempo Fix your form first, then chase the weight. Strength without technique is just injury waiting to happen. Free 5 Days Fat Loss Start Diet - Beacons LINK in My BIO ⬇️ #FatLoss #FatLossCoach #ChestDay #BenchPress
