The explanation for Cihuateteo is lacking. It's not that the mother fought the baby to her death. Aztecans view child birth as a sacred, perilous battle. A woman in labor is considered a warrior fighting a life-or-death struggle. If she dies during the process, she'd receive high military honors and heavenly afterlife similarly to men that died fighting in combat.

Ahuizotl also imitates the cries of someone drowning while having his tail/hand above water , so when they try to help they get dragged towarsd the bottom of the lake, i can't remember if he just lets them drown or if he eats them while they fight to swim up , this was in one of the books in my school
