Horus, one of Egypt’s most enduring gods, was associated with the sky, kingship, and divine authority. His outstretched wings could symbolize the heavens themselves, while the pharaoh ruled beneath his protection. Gold added another layer of meaning. Ancient Egyptians associated it with the gods because it did not tarnish like ordinary metals. Its brilliance recalled the eternal light of the sun, making it a natural material for sacred objects, royal burial treasures, and images of the divine. That is what I love most about Ancient Egyptian symbolism. Beauty was rarely meaningless. Wings could become protection. Gold could become eternity. The sun could become resurrection.
