@developingdfw: The proposed Westlake data center near Keller just became a bigger controversy. Westlake says it first discussed the project with Keller leadership in December 2024, including details about the site plan, noise, water use, electrical infrastructure, and proximity to nearby homes. The town also says it moved the building farther north, increased setbacks, added landscaping buffers, and will enforce strict noise limits to reduce impacts on Keller neighborhoods. But Keller officials have said they were unaware the project had advanced this far and characterized the earlier discussions as preliminary. That leaves the two cities with very different accounts of what was communicated and when. The project itself sits inside Westlake, meaning Westlake receives the tax revenue, while some of the closest homes are across the border in Keller. Now the debate is becoming about more than data centers. It’s about transparency and how cities should handle developments that directly affect residents across municipal boundaries. Do you think neighboring residents should have more say in projects like this? #KellerTX #WestlakeTX #DataCenters #DFWGrowth #DevelopingDFW

so when these people building these data centers made their propels for these facilities it was presented as a mining center and then they just recently disclosed it as data centers. my mothering law was on the city council in Abilene and that's exactly what happened there.

So, Armin Mizani, the former mayor of Keller, and other representatives of Keller agreed to this disadvantageous setup on behalf of Keller citizens.

Appraisal of your home are based on a certain amount of distance geographically that may go into other cities so if this project influences your home value, then you should absolutely have an opinion.

Sounds like none of the residents cared a couple years ago. With the recent demonization of data centers not surprised of the pushback. Can’t blame the developer with that. Sounds like they are being reasonable.
