It’s always refreshing when you meet a cashier who knows what they are doing AND has social skills. And then you’ll get someone like this and it’s a shock to the system. I have always been hypervigilant and perfectionist so I get sent into a tailspin when confronted with someone who just dgaf. Doesn’t your day go by quicker if you’re chatty/friendly and don’t you intrinsically want to do a good job when given a task?

I was at the movies maybe a month ago, the kid at the concession stand handed me my popcorn and some of the pieces fell out of the bag on to the counter…I kid you not this kid picked up all the pieces and then ate them right in front of me… I think I was actually kind of impressed

My niece sent me 5-6 screenshots between her and a friend and the way neither of them know how to use the English language, and she gets SO MAD when I correct her I just...they're all so unwilling to be better.

effort and attention are foreign concepts to a generation raised entirely in passive consumption mode. they were trained - they werent really paying attention. they were educated and taught how to be aware - they werent really thinking about it. theyre unsure and dont try bc, even when given explicit instruction, theyre not used to having to DO things. they passively consume digital content the vast majority of their conscious time.

He had an algebra teacher at some point who was tasked with getting him proficient in graphing parabolas and solving quadratic equations. And when he couldn't, she was considered a bad teacher.

I’m 47 and I used to be like this when I was in my 20’s. I was angry to be at work and thought I was better than everyone else. Life humbles you. That attitude gets you absolutely NOWHERE. I got fired a few times during that time of my life. I treat all of my work clients like gold now.

I called my local Bath & Body Works to check to see if they had a certain candle and this kid who sounded to be about in his mid twenties answered the phone and was like “Hello?”, sounding like I called him at his house while he was napping. I was like “Is this Bath and Body Works??” Making me feel like I called the wrong number. I felt like such an old lady (I’m 33) and I got to the store and spoke to the nice manager who was my age and told her what happened on the phone and she sighed about him and I felt that deeply lol. Also my daughter started reading and calling out letters and numbers accurately at 16 months old. I fear how young adults/teens are these days that I refuse to let my daughter be like them.
