i’m surprised you didn’t bring up the comics too actually! issue 3.5 gives some proper insight into hoodie/brian’s behaviors and motivation which isn’t really afforded to us in the series. rather than blaming anything on tim it seems he blames everything entirely on alex with a heavy hatred for him. instead, in regards to tim he cries upon learning he’s still alive, ultimately accepting skully’s offer to be taken afterwards. i pretty much interpret this as brian never hated tim, his actions in regards to masky were simply a means to an end and not a direct attempt at being malicious or a display of resentment. his ultimate goal has always been taking down alex, the operator’s main instrument, viewing tim as a victim much like the rest of them. thiiis makes them even more compelling in my opinion, adding to their complexity!! comic 3.5 was honestly the tipping point for me and what really pushed me to ship them. they’re tragic men doing what they think needs to be done.

tbh, the reason Masky and Hoodie are the pure definition of frienemies, since half of the time they seem ok together while the other half they might be fighting. I think that represents and feeds everyone who wants to ship them since it is a pretty common ship, it has the drama that makes the ship so alive yet is not too much due to their known rivalry. I personally believe that Hoodie teamed up with Masky in moments where they both knew they couldn't fight alone, other than that they don't seem to care too much about each other.

Yes this explains it perfectly. I personally do kinda ship them, but only in the events before marble hornets. I don’t think it would realistically work during/after MH considering Brian purposely puts Tim into some type of psychosis, which definitely makes me grieve their previous relationship harder (coming from a jam shipper lol)
