Literally 💖 i’m able to go 5-7 holidays a year, have a nice car, don’t have to worry about nights out etc and my house is all done the way i want it, all because we chose not to take the mortgage that the banks were offering. Btw not bragging here, just being realistic in this day and age where banks and mortgage advisors will try and offer you the maximum mortgages

I had a ‘cheap budget wedding’ and don’t regret it. We were married and still had savings in the bank. I drive an old car, don’t outstretch ourselves on mortgage. It enables me to work only 2 days a week and we go on multiple holidays a year including Australia soon.

Saint Luke’s is my dream wedding venue but I thought it would be pricier than this!

Are you single? How did you pay rent and save up for a house deposit as well as raise a child?

Absolutely love this. We done the same, bought a modest ex housing association house that cost half of what we could have gotten mortgage wise. Small mortgage 2 = more money for other things. We are now planning to sell up move into a small flat in the next year or 2 and be mortgage free by age 50.

I find it hard not to touch my savings …. And buy stupid stuff I don’t need. Any advice? It’s like if there is money and I see it it’s very difficult for me not to use it
