Thank you for making this video. You’re incredibly brave for speaking up. I considered doing the same, but after I wrote much of what you just said in the comments under another post, I was attacked so aggressively that I became genuinely afraid of retaliation against myself. I can corroborate what you said about the Island based on conversations I’ve had with people who were actually there. I can also corroborate what you said about there being absolutely no opportunity for someone to simply be taken backstage during or after a show. Also, there’s one part of the BBC documentary that particularly bothered me because I actually know the woman they showed. She is a friend of mine. The documentary showed footage of her onstage while discussing young women allegedly being taken advantage of while Mars was touring internationally. Dramatic music played as the camera focused on the moment Jared touched her. Watching it, I felt the framing invited viewers to interpret that footage in a very particular way. But I know the woman in that footage. We had dinner in New York about a month ago, and she told me a month before this docu aired about that experience herself. According to her, every interaction and every touch shown was welcome, and she was WELL OVER 21 at the time. I’m not claiming to know what happened to anyone else, and I’m not speaking for anyone whose experiences I don’t know. But I do think it matters when footage involving a real person is presented in a context that may leave viewers with an impression that is very different from how that person herself describes what happened… I support journalistic integrity.

I was going to run away from my life and follow the band around with the Eschelon kids when the very 1st album came out in 2005 I loved them SO much. It’s not a cult, we just connected super crazy with the music. Also I will say as a lifelong rock/metal/hardcore/emo (whatever you want to call it) person if you’re not one of those people you just won’t get it. I was about to run away from my life and follow around Badflower when their first album came out a few years ago and I’m in my 40s… 😂 It’s not a cult. We just feel deeply deeply connected to the music.

Thank you so much for sharing this. The whole cult thing has been blown out of proportion for years and created so much negativity around him. I hate how it's basically turned the Echelon into something so negative. That's our fan community and the image of it has been destroyed by confusion on social media.

Thank you for putting this out there. It is aggravating to hear about the “cult” on the island. Not sure what to believe about the young women. Consensual? Probably. But, if they were under 18? I have a problem with that if he was in his 30s. 😢 Only allegations at this point. And given a massive platform on the BBC. No criminal charges.
