Asante Berko was engaged by Goldman Sachs to assist its client, AKSA Enerji, a Turkish energy company, in securing a power project in Ghana. He helped facilitate negotiations for the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between AKSA and Ghana's Ministry of Power in 2015, during the John Mahama administration. Years later, under Nana Akufo-Addo, Berko was appointed Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) in January 2020. He served for only about 3 months, resigning on 15 April 2020. Thus, his involvement in the AKSA power deal was before Akufo-Addo's government, while his TOR appointment was under Akufo-Addo.
