So many pastors talking about how a Godly wife should act. I hardly ever hear the sermons on how a man is supposed to serve his wife and die to hisself for his wife, lay down his wants for his wife and provide emotional, mental and physical security for his wife, lead his wife and his home like taking care of the mental load of the home…I could go on..let’s preach those sermons…

First of all, there’s no “dating” in the Bible. Second of all, based on the Bible and its ancient texts, if you have sexual relations with someone then you most definitely have entered in to a covenant relationship in the eyes of God. In biblical times, a man took a woman into a tent and had sex, and *this* was the moment they entered into covenant … when the two became one flesh. Not at an altar. Not with a wedding before friends and family. Not when a legal document was signed and filed with the court as a legally-binding contract (which are all man-made constructs). The act bound the two together in God’s eyes. So he’s quite a bit off base here … which is a bit concerning for a pastor who should know better. we been together 17 years, and I like to think we were married in God's eyes. we got baptized together. the reason we dont get married is due to extream medical debt, that could harm us financially. Is it wrong to chose to be together for a life time, with out getting the government involved?

The question I've always had is...when God created Eve and presented her to Adam, He called them husband and wife. There was no formal wedding ceremony in front of a large group of witnesses, but we have always been taught that until a pastor or a judge declares you husband and wife, two people are not married in God's eyes and they are sinning. When Jesus performed his first miracle turning water into wine it was at a wedding celebration after they had become husband and wife. I have yet to find in the Bible where it talks about a formal wedding ceremony. Whenever a man found a woman he wanted as a wife he just told her and then she would agree and go to live with him and the Bible says she became his wife. I need it to make sense.

Brother state didn’t care at all it was tracked in the church until they came up with tax law in 1930s…and formed a covenant between man wife and state which is against God’s law as Church is suppose to administer justice for marriages…Moses was a judge by Gods eye not by man’s law. If two people form covenant between themselves and God, as it was in the garden, they are married. In today’s time in a church before witnesses they are married. A covenant of man stays with man, that of God is only for God. Marriage laws of today create more divorce than they do marriages but back when folks stayed in church, had family bibles with marriage and divorce records, shame was abundant and people tried. It’s annoying how much myrr is mixed in with the wine in today’s churches.
