I kinda understand but what about episode 4 season 1 when lorelai talked with rory about the harvard dream and rory literally assured to lorelai that harvard was her dream and lorelai told her that she could do whatever she wanted with her life? in the same scene lorelai even asked rory if this all harvard thing was all because of her and rory said no. But I’m totally agree with the controlling aspect for the rest.

Loreali hated anytime Rory liked things she didn’t (e.g. the country club). She also judged who Rory dated just as harshly as Emily judged who she dated

Lorelei didn’t go no contact with Rory “just because she dropped out of Yale”. She begged her parents for help and talked to Rory about next steps after Rory got in trouble. Everyone ignored Lorelei in that situation. What she was left with was self preservation. Rory was adult enough to make her choices and Lorelai’s parents were on her side until they decided to spoil Rory. That being said I agree with the rest of this TT.

Gilmore girls isn’t called Gilmore girls because of Rory and Lorelei the whole point is it explores the intergenerational relationships of Lorelei sr, Lorelei junior, Emily, and Rory. No one is a good person or a bad person the same way no one is a good parent or a bad parent it is an exploration of their relationships to one another. Hence why Emily has 100s of scenes alone but Richard only has a handful of scenes where Emily isn’t there and when he is he is usually talking about Emily.

Neah Emily is horrible. It triggers me so much. I do feel bad for her sometimes, she obviously wants a connection with Lorelai, but that's it. But I do think Lorelai is a hypocrite.

As a kid, we all dreamed of having a mom like Lorelei who would let us do whatever we want. Now we are adults and many of us mothers ourselves, and we can see now that Lorelei wasn’t that that great of a mom and her problems with her mother were mostly her fault.

When I finally found out what the four words were that the creator always knew were going to end the show it became clear to me that the entire show is about how we repeat the cycles we grew up with. No matter how far we might go to be different, we carry the trauma of generations and can never fully escape. Loralie becomes like Emily in her attempt to be different

Lorelei goes no contact for like a week with her own fiance because she’s upset about their wedding date not being set and after actively avoiding him, confronts him manically and gives him the “Marry me now or we’re done” ultimatum.

All of the Gilmore's are bad people in different ways. I watch this show every few months. Its my comfort. But these people are horrible. These days I just watch for Kirk 🤣

I never realized the amount of fat jokes in this show until I started rewatching. They had a whole movie night dedicated to making fun of the fat actors after rorys 1st movie night once she started Yale.

Fr the fat jokes were so strange. It was a 2000s show to be fair (not excusable at all!!) but even in 2016 they were still making those jokes. It’s ironic that sookie is literally a bigger woman too 😭😭
