Why does a deficiency in orexin cause narcolepsy?

as someone with narcolepsy who has been following this for a while im excited but keeping my expectations low. its not a cure as some publications have been framing it, just a treatment that is more direct than traditional stimulants. i had a friend with narcolepsy who took part in a clinical trial and had told me the medication felt just like trying modafinil for the first time again (not worse but not any better) but im assuming the good thing about this med is the body doesnt build tolerance too it as fast meaning you can stay on it for longer. for now i still think sodium oxybates have been the most important development in treating narcolepsy but we will see

This is super interesting! I’m very curious about how it will affect those non narcoleptic groups. Also I wanted to ask if you would be able to do a video on pcp cardiotoxicity (or toxicity in general) and whether one could assume analogues would also have similar effects?

This is super exciting. I've been following the research on orexin agonists for narcolepsy for about a decade and it's been awesome to see the development come to fruition. Compared to placebo it had truly fantastic results, huge win for the narcolepsy community
