By that logic, we should be terrified of a lot of things we use every day. Penicillin, for example, is produced through optimized fermentation using Penicillium mold, yet the finished medication is purified and used as an antibiotic. And sure, some people react poorly to certain foods or additives individual sensitivity is a legitimate thing. But “it’s made using mold” ≠ “it contains mold” ≠ “it’s bad for you.” The source of a compound doesn’t automatically determine whether the purified compound is good or bad. Chemistry matters more than the scary-sounding origin story LOL

While the process uses a mold, the final white powder is a highly purified single molecule (C₆H₈O₇) with zero mold proteins or DNA left in it. Other compounds found in Citric Acid are Oxalate, Sulfate, Chloride, Calcium, Iron, Heavy Metals, and Sulfated Ash. They are all strictly trace contaminants from manufacturing, not added ingredients. Quality control ensures these are washed down to microscopic, FDA-approved safe limits (parts per million) You'd actually consume higher natural levels of several of these compounds—like arsenic, oxalates, and heavy metals—in a single serving of rice or spinach than in your entire year's worth of citric acid.

Do not pay attention to what he says, if the product is organic it is not allowed to use citric acid that is made from GMO corn this is per the USDA national organic program and the national organic standard board

After years of trying to figure out what was triggering horrible migraines in my twin sister and I It all came down to foods that had citric acid in them and believe me there are thousands! It is in dried fruits, it is Jarred almost everything from olives to artichoke hearts! It literally triggers migraines folks so experiment on yourself if you suffer from migraines, you will see that this is definitely a trigger for it. Save yourself from so many years of pain and avoid it if you can. It's hard because it's in almost every damn product now.

citric acid is C⁶H⁸O⁷, it occurs in the metabolic acid cycle of every known aerobic life form on earth. It is produced commercially by feeding carbohydrate feed stock to Aspergillus Niger, a safe mold that has been used in this way for a hundred years. It is used acid stabiliser and natural preservative in food, cosmetics etc This is absolute scare mongering.

Originally, citric acid was first discovered from lemon juice in 1784 by a Swedish chemist called Carl Wilhelm Scheele.. Which is in most citrus fruits but more in lemons and limes. Then in 1917, James Currie who was an American chemist discovered feeding cheap sugar to a mold strain called Aspergillus niger made it excrete large quantities of citric acid. By 1920, Pfizer scaled up fermentation method and production by using corn sugar. Today, 99% of citric acid is produced using this method. Around 2.8 million tones produced globally per year through microbial fermentation rather than citrus juice. Shocking part is, even products like Fanta orange or Fanta lemon uses the mold citric acid and not from the juice.. Even though the flavour is orange or lemon 😭

that's just bs. citric acid is citric acid no matter how it's made. it's not a health risk unless you have a problem with stomach acid. it's basically vitamin C. Even if it was true it was made from GMO corn it would still be citric acid. this video is misinformation
