They view Black actors from the UK as less threatening. It’s all rooted in racism

Black Americans are trained. Folks gotta stop running with the narrative that they are not.

“They are better actors” and all they doing is studying Black Americans. Very little range

It's all good :
so I spoke to a casting director and this is what she told me: oftentimes black British actors are more classically trained, they have more acting experience, during the auditioning process black British actors tend to ask more questions about the character, also some casting directors become awestruck at how well they transform themselves into the characters and how well they can mimic American accents. it's not to say that black British actors are better than American actors but they are better at leaving a lasting impression once they leave the audition

they aren't theatre trained. YOU understand the power of theatre. but Americans aren't doing theatre any more and it shows.

Black American actor here: most yt studios/networks casting execs are unable to grasp the nuances of black Americans. British black actors are trained to transform in order to work in the most lucrative film market: America. The switching of accents automatically elevates the British actor in studios mind. Plainly put, the black American actor actually makes it look to easy often times. Studios wanna feel like they’re choosing the “hardest worker” even if the work isn’t being judged adequately

It’s not just black people. Patterson, Tom Holland, Anja Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh, Millie Bobby Brown, etc. are British too. The list is long!

From the Uk! London. Not an actress but they FUND US and NARTURE us, in "public schools" drama classes are mandatory. The training is different, especially in London - your teachers have probably been classically trained. They spot people early (same emphasis you put on athletes). They are trained in Shakespeare and theatre mainly, they are free to emote and not be scared. If you have a crumb of talent you are scouted young! Same with our footballers. If you have talent they water you EARLY! Drama, dance and football success stories are ALWAYS grassroots findings.

You guys are taking it too personally when it’s nothing personal. Drama and theatre is prioritised in the uk more than it is in America. That’s basically it

Americans want to be movie stars. They want to be celebrities. Brits want to be actors. They want to be creatives. That’s why they usually start with theatre, where there’s no do-overs, where you have to be on the top of your game 2 shows a day, 7 days a week, for as many weeks as it runs.

Most British actors have been taking acting since school with GCSE (on an equivalent) aged 13/14-16 & then A Level Drama. Then they often go on to drama school for 3+ years to work on their craft. Voice, acting, movement/dance classes etc. Learning different techniques and about practitioners, eg. Stanislavski, Meissner, Hagen, multiple times a week for 45+ hours. The training is more focused on stage acting with a smaller portion for the screen. Most film studios also now prefer to save on the budget and film outside the US as it's cheaper such as Spider-man, which was filmed in the UK.
