they have the BEST offense-defense tank (Toph) + a well-rounded unit (Katara since learning to get water from the air; water bending might as well be omnipresent such a shame they didn't show it in the movie 😭)

The reason the team was elite was beucase every single member was the best of the best. Katara is a water bending prodigy, toph is arguably greatest earth bender alive at 12, Sokka is a master strategist, inventor and swordsman, Zuko is another top tier swordsman and a skilled firebender. Then there’s Aang the Avatar who’s a phenomenal airbender water bender and earth bender
