Do you have to disable the feed dogs to accurately go around with the blanket stitch?

I highly recommend the heat and bond sheets that are just glue. Interfacing has glue on one side and is thickened with felted or woven fabric to stiffen your final piece, if you don’t want or need the extra thickness (especially if your design has lots of layers) the heat and bond acts like double sided tape but still activated with heat. You leave the paper on one side, draw your design straight onto its paper (mirrored though), bond to your patch, cut out the details (for more precise edges cut after bonding), peel the paper off and bond to your project. This method allows you to keep adding more layers than interfacing would allow. I also use the satin (short stitch length) zig zag stitch which is probably available on more machines. I get my stuff from quilting stores.

I love browsing those 80s/90s books. 😂 Bought a handful at a local church op shop 👀 so many projects. And I just love so much how handmade clothes and decorations was a thing back then but not now?! Like wdym I can make those cute fish decorations with paper mache 😂
