When that water evaporates from the aircraft’s surface, those minerals are left behind as deposits. If they aren’t removed promptly, repeated exposure can cause mineral buildup, etching, and eventually permanent damage to the paint and clear coat. In severe cases, the spots can become chemically bonded to the surface and require machine polishing or paint correction to remove. This is especially important with aircraft because they are constantly exposed to rain, moisture, and environmental contaminants at altitude and on the ground. A proper aircraft wash isn’t just about making the airplane look clean. It’s about removing contaminants before they have the opportunity to damage the aircraft’s finish.
