I think there’s an important distinction between being blunt and being regulated enough to communicate honestly. For someone with C-PTSD, bluntness can sometimes become a form of protection saying exactly what you mean, keeping people at a distance, and avoiding the vulnerability that can come with being misunderstood or hurt. But I wonder about the long-term piece: does what feels empowering in the short term ultimately help us build safer, healthier relationships? Healing, to me, isn’t necessarily becoming less direct. It’s learning how to remain honest without always having to be guarded, reactive, or emotionally armored.
The goal might not be to lose the bluntness, but to gain the freedom to choose when and how we use it.

how do I keep showing up for someone with CPTSD in a way that shows support and consistency, without them feeling like I'm overwhelming them? I don't want to call or text too often, but I also don't want her self-isolating thinking she's alone all the time

I need help. I have a friend who in my opinion intrudes on my personal space. Quite literally every Monday she wants to stop by because she’s in the area taking her father to lunch. Once in a while is great. But I’ve gotten to where it stresses me out anticipating her text asking to come over to visit. It’s not that I don’t like her, but I value my privacy/space/peace. I have no idea how to broach the subject with her and I’m on the verge of doing an avoidant dismissal, which is really crappy. My nervous system cannot handle this.

Bc my amygdala is on fire 🤣. Pretty much! Think the hardest part is people understanding it’s not a choice or something easily fixable. I was severely abused to the point it changed my chemistry. No one wants this. I miss feeling like I had a soul.
