Hand them a broom, mop, go water the lawn/plants. That was an effective solution my mom would give to resolve the issue of boredom.

Or find out what kind of learner your kid is. I'm 48, 139 IQ, I can't comprehend when I read. I need visual. Nothing wrong with learning the same thing in books off YouTube, or educational sites. One of my two sons got my brain. Glad I learned about this in an honors seminar when I was in college because it still is ignored mostly. Screens aren't always bad... It's what is on the screen that can make it bad.
