i’ve been on ssris snris and mood stabilizers since 16 to treat bpd and major depressive disorder caused by extremely low testosterone and let me tell you my brain has never been close to as sharp as before i got on ssris when i first started ssris it felt like i had just a chunck of my brain turned off

Haha this is a good video, I like discussing both sides here (unless it’s bioscience). I’ll make a stitch soon, but I do think you have a point about more “direct” drugs being more favorable. I wouldn’t be surprised if SSRIs got outclassed by more targeted selective drugs in 30-50 years. The only issue here is the lack of data with these more targeted drugs; they don’t have the 40 years of post-clinical data like SSRIs do. Mechanistic data only goes so far, but it’s important to see all facets here.

Idk I don’t like how much hate antidepressant get cz not everyone even gets those side effects. I’ve tried many antidepressants and I like them quit max dose duloxetine over a year ago and it was fine lowkey needed help again started venlafaxine 2 weeks ago. they just not bad imo way better than depending on benzos and truly help people they not just destructive

I got on fluvox and everything felt better . Look up the dominance hierarchy and serotonin and I found a bunch of studies that show wayy more increase in neurogenesis . Normally I like his videos but this isn’t the best take.

Neurogenesis appear not because of the drug itself. It doesn’t appear from the drug itself not in a drug called vortioxetine which is known to help the brain more than the other antidepressants. It appears because of the nervous system resting and learning new coping mechanisms. It is that simple
