🚨 URGENT CALL FOR JUSTICE — PLEASE SHARE 🚨 My name is Olugbenga Akinladeleke, and I am speaking out about what happened to me on Sunday, 6 September 2026, in Alagbado, Lagos. I was coming from Agege, Lagos, and dropped at Kola Bus Stop, Alagbado. I could not get a motorcycle, so I started trekking towards my residence around Akera Tide Road. According to my account, a bus stopped around my bus stop and some men who were not wearing police uniforms came out. I asked them, “How may I help you?” Before I could understand what was happening, one of them allegedly slapped me hard across the face. I was wearing my prescription glasses at the time. They allegedly dragged me into the bus and took me to Ebenezer Police Station, Alagbado/Ojokoro. I was told that the team leader was a woman who identified herself as “Sheri.” I do not know her ethnic background, but I observed that she spoke Igbo fluently. I am providing this detail only to help identify the person and the team involved. When we got to the station, I repeatedly asked what I had done and why I was there. Instead of giving me a clear explanation, I allege that I was slapped and beaten again inside the station. Nothing was found on me apart from my phone. I was detained overnight and placed in a cell. The following morning, I was brought out and told to sit under a tree within the station. Later, my phone had died. I was told it would be charged so that I could call someone to come and “bail” me. I asked: “Bail for what? What have I done?” I was allegedly told that someone should come with money before I would be released. I kept asking what offence I had committed, but I say I was not given a satisfactory explanation. I eventually told them that the slap I received was affecting my eye. I was then told I could leave later. Today, my eye is badly swollen and I am in pain. The attached video shows the injury I am currently suffering. This is not a call for trial by social media. It is a call for an immediate, transparent and proper investigation. I want answers: ❓ Who were the men who picked me up? ❓ Who exactly is the woman identified as Sheri, who was described as the team leader? ❓ Why was I taken to the police station? ❓ What offence was I suspected of committing? ❓ Why was I allegedly assaulted? ❓ Why was I detained overnight? ❓ Why was money allegedly demanded before my release? ❓ Why did I have to suffer this injury without being given a clear explanation of what I had done? I am calling on the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Police Command, AIG Disu, human-rights organisations and other relevant authorities to urgently investigate this matter. I am asking that the identities of the officers/persons involved be established, CCTV or other available evidence be preserved, witnesses be interviewed, and appropriate action be taken against anyone found to have acted unlawfully.
