You’re supposed to measure to the pelvic bone. So measure it vertically from the base, push down your mons pubis until you feel your pelvic bone. From pelvic bone to tip is your full length.

B is cheating and inaccurate cope. This is why so many trees claim their branches are bigger than they are. The correct way is from the top of the branch pressed against the solid trunk of the tree.
