EVERY woman should read the book The Gift of Fear. I was in a very scary situation 5 years ago, also in a parking lot, and now I beg every woman I know to read it, or at least listen to the Oprah Soul podcast where she interviews the author/former FBI agent

The gift of fear- the author said humans are the only species that will go along with someone that makes them feel uncomfortable. He literally referred to the elevator situation as “getting into a soundproof chamber with a stranger you don’t trust”. It’s ok to be “rude” by hitting door open and getting the hell outta there. I can’t imagine the terror you felt. I’m so happy you’re ok.

Always treat a stranger or that feeling of uncertainty like a wild animal .. Like if a raccoon or a bear got in the elevator, you would get the heck out of the elevator as quick as possible .. Same goes for a stranger cause they are a greater danger .. So happy you’re safe .. That so scary!!

You did an amazing job of trusting your gut and managing terror in real time. When you can, consider calling the garage and making them aware - checking their cameras (maybe there is one in the elevators) and they can be aware of this predator
