monkeys paw is always twisted, genies grant wishes based on personal whim, one wish willow is true neutral, but its also lawless, love, death, and time are on the table, but if they go bad it's because it was bad wish with bad intentions

It’s definitely a monkeys paw thing 😓 his wish was terrible yeah but what happened was the most extreme outcome that wish could’ve had very absolutely monkeys paw IMO (also the million dollar thing was horrible he realized he’d trapped his friend in this horrible wish and it made the original wish even worse which is like the WHOLE plot of monkeys paw is that each wish piles up to make the first one even worse! but hey at least now he has piles of money that he can’t explain to the government and will probably be investigated for seems like it’s still a really shitty outcome) and yes I agree his wish is horrible and he honestly deserves what happened to him because of it 🤷♂️I still feel like it’s very monkey paw esque but he deserves no sympathy regardless

i don’t believe that it being comparable to the monkeys paw would take away any blame from bear. the one wish willow clearly has a catch of some kind. why do i think that? obsession isn’t love, he wished for love and it gave him obsession. and i think that can be acknowledged while keeping responsibility on him

The monkey’s paw adds a catch related to the wish. Whilst the one wish willow doesn’t add consequence, it just gives people exactly what they wish. For example, if you wish to live forever using the monkey’s paw, it could mean you get frozen in ice for all of eternity. If you wish for that on the one wish willow, it would make you immortal, but you will feel all the pain of growing older and weaker. While you won’t exactly die, you will still age.

I swear people ACTUALLY watched this movie with their eyes closed. IN THE MOVIE the costumer service worker on the phone said the wish will only do WHAT THE WISHER ASKED FOR!! He asked for obsessive attention so he got obsessive attention.

It’s just you having to be specific about the wish you want because as you stated, Ian got the $1 billion and he died not because of the fact that he wished for the $1 billion but because of the fact that his recklessness after seeing the wish, actually come true and not believing bear so it’s definitely not a monkey’s paw thing you just gotta be really careful on what you wish for especially if you’re wishing about love it’s like witchcraft Use the wrong type of love spell or say the wrong type of thing for a love spell and they’re gonna be like completely obsessed with you.
