I know how you feel. I was at a restaurant once. Little old man, sitting alone, eating his meal. I was so sad for him. I just couldn't look. Turns out he was the owner of the restaurant. Happily married with numerous children/grandchildren 😁

my husband saw me being sad at chick fil a recently while watching a little old WWII vet and he snuck up there to buy him lunch. It made me cry more but it was so sweet 😂

Another plot twist: he’s walking to his favorite breakfast spot to enjoy the company of his favorite servers who know him by name & his order by heart. A couple of his long time friends also find their way to the stools next to him. They sit and drink coffee & talk about their families and how hopefully winter isn’t too bad this year. It’s a tradition and it gets him out of the house with some fresh air & good company 🥰

This is going to sound awful, but I am such an empath and seeing elderly people walk by themselves makes me immediately cry, so I tell myself that they could have done something awful and it saves my emotions 🫣

I have a retired veteran Jim, that dresses up and walks the neighborhood circle, 2 to 3 times a day, one circle around is 3 miles! He adores his walks, loves to talk, and it keeps him busy. He often said in our first year being here, he was "walking away from the bad thoughts". Now we exchange pleasantries, and I leave chalk on the sidewalk in a bucket for my daughter and the neighborhood kids to use, and he's ALWAYS the first person to use it to sign his name, say hi, if we aren't outside, leaves the date he left his message. He's one of the happiest guys I know, but this is what I thought the first time I saw him, moving into the neighborhood. ❤️

Maybe go talk to him and brighten up his day. Ppl forgot when your a senior you watch everyone you love die, who knows if this man lost completely everyone and has literally no one to even talk to, can you imagine being mute all day and every day bc you have no one to talk to??

I work in a restaurant and majority of my customers are seniors. The amount of times I strike up a conversation so I can sit and chat with them is crazy. Most don’t have phones to scroll through so they stare out the window….
