I'm from Poland, and I suggest making pierogi ruskie, with cabbage and mushrooms, or gołąbki (ground meat and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves and simmered in tomato sauce). You have to try it. Polish cuisine is delicious and underrated worldwide.

reminds me of a cornish pasty from here in the UK! they have big crimped edges that act like a pastry handle so that miners with dirty hands could hold it by that part and eat the rest without getting it covered in dirt. it’s so neat that you can see foods with similar purposes popping up on different sides of the planet!
