@gonecozycrafts: What is an Authorised Representative and could this be a way to combat the high AR fees? Also I’m sorry for my artsy & crafty moots that aren’t affected and don’t care about this, but I need to do this, I hope you understand #EPR #ppwr #EU #authorisedrepresentative #ecommerce
as an autistic person this has been draining my battery for years. so many people knew about these rules years ago and still sent their parcels, yet I knew if I did, i'd be made an example of and fined a gazillion euro.
I also think they could streamline all of this if they make you tick a few boxes when you buy your shipping online. I already input the weight of the parcel, why not the weight of the packaging and the material it's made out of. then I can pay a little fee and the information is then sent to the respective EPR data collectors via the shipping company. It would be so simple and would make sense to team up with shipping companies as they deal with packaging.

I’m from the netherlands as well and honestly i’m this 🤏 close to just sending packages with normal postnl instead of postnl business, and pretending i’m not a business but just a person sending out stuff. I don’t sell that much anyway😭

I wouldn't take the risk of becoming an AR for other businesses. Most of the businesses that would use you would be small businesses with inexperienced people with small or no compliance departments, so you are taking a huge risk and taking on a lot of compliance paperwork. Absolute nightmare.

If you are selling your products Eu countries should you have a representative for each eu country or does eu count as one and you only find one representative for the whole of eu.

I think I might only pick 2-3 countries 🫤 the ones where I sell the most but everything seems so expensive

Hi, just a thought you see all this law has two sides to it actually since you not based in the eu or based in an eu country and wish to sell your products to other eu countries it's fine but you don't need to register in each country all you need is a distributor or a company that would be buying your products in that country and in that case they would be registered locally anyway but to register in 27 countries individually that's a huge cost but that's just my opinion

It looks like the previous comment didn't go through. Attempt #2 😆 What iffff.....we found 27 SMEs, one in each EU country, and split the cost of getting ARs everywhere evenly between us. We each get a "real" AR for one country (because liability is scary), then ship our packages with a stopover essentially? 👀 Say we get a client from DE but we only have an AR for the NL where you are. What if we ship to you, and you forward the package to DE, where our client and your AR would be? 👀 What do we think? We haven't even launched yet and this regulation hit us like a ton of bricks. Ridiculously, we're also in the EU. 😂

Honestly I had the same idea of teaming up with artists and creatives from other countries and representing each other 😅 No idea how to go about it, but seeing I'm not the only one who thought about it...maybe there is a way?

Its still worth exploring this idea of representing other artists. I will find out more. Im currently located in Finland. In eu we are supposed to have free movement of goods, services, people and money. Now that we are locked in they take all that away. Step by step.

I saw here that we can still provide feedback to the EU representatives about this. So please if we at least let them know about the havoc they made to the small businesses

we should make like a website like they do with hiring a teacher for learning a language and have a profile and all so people can hire us as a rep 😃

To all the confused ppl why this got voted. It was put into the law so you HAVE to use corpotations platforms to sell your goods, they will provide the packaging and take care of administeation for a "small" fee. This not a theory, this is already happening in country's with strict packaging laws in EU. And no there are no "exemptions" in thouse countries, so choose your EU representative more responsibli next time.
