The mountain I must climb. A voyage that will take somewhere between 8 and 9 months. The weather window is set by the seasons, giving me 10 months to prepare my new boat and myself to cross every ocean on earth in one swing. Fewer than 200 people in all of human history have ever completed a solo circumnavigation without stopping. Most had a lifetime of sailing experience. Many had million dollar boats and corporate teams behind them. Not all. But many. What I lack in resources, I’ll make up for in will. This is the closest thing to impossible I could ever attempt. The odds of success are slim. Certainly less than 50 percent. People will say I’m not experienced enough. That I’m crazy. People will tell me I shouldn’t do this. And maybe they’re right. But I welcome it. Because I’ve been laughed at before. Written off before. Called crazy before. And yet, here I am. I know what this will cost me. My health. My peace. Maybe my sanity. But I’ll do it anyway. I’ll pour my soul into it. I’ll lay everything I have on the line. The success of a circumnavigation begins before leaving the dock. The next 10 months will decide everything. Every bolt, every system, every skill I don’t yet have. I have to get it right. Because my life will depend on it. Why am I doing this? Some will say for fame. Some for money. Some because I’ve lost my mind. The truth is, I don’t fully know. What I do know is this. It’s been haunting me for months, keeping me awake at night, replaying over and over in my head. And I finally realized I don’t have a choice. This isn’t something I want to do. It’s something I have to do. If I ever want peace, I need to try. I believe the feeling of fear is proof you’re standing at the edge of something that matters. You don’t feel it over things that mean nothing. You feel it when the outcome could change you, when it asks more of you than you’ve ever given before. Maybe I’m crazy. But I believe this is why I’m here. So it’s simple. I’ll just do it.
