I laboured many women in water but never delivered anyone…I was taught by Irish and Scottish midwives. With delivery of the babies head I would have one hand on the baby’s head to control the presentation and the other hand supporting the perineum as it stretched, carefully watching the whole time ..With this 2 handed technique, most of the deliveries I did the patient ended up with an intact perineum or a small graze that was so small it would even require stitches…I don’t know how you’d manage delivering under water, you would be able to see or support the perineum property to avoid a major tear

This makes total sense, why are we only getting greater access to this kind of care now. And they wonder why so many children struggle with their nervous system and related disorders when their delivery was so traumatic and stressful. And it all could’ve been avoided by a warm and relaxing environment for mum
