Bring back Job Swap! People have no idea what teachers do, and we have no idea what other professions have to do. To those who aren’t teachers, our job seems easy…teach a lesson, grade a paper, line them up, etc. I wish it was that easy. Sitting through professional developments the past two days, learning about new curriculum software, updates to the state standards and mandates, trying to figure out how to squeeze a lemon through a needle eye… it’s so much more than it was when I started and it’s overwhelming. Honestly, I think I’m a great teacher, but with all the changes and additions, and data reports, AI, new programs, etc., sometimes I feel inadequate. Not to toot my own horn, but I know I’m capable and I know I make a difference, but the “extra” stuff is heavy. It makes me sad for new teachers just starting; bless their hearts. So, maybe if we were all given the opportunity to swap professions for the day we’d have more respect for the hard work everyone does. #bringbackjobswap #jobswap #teacherexpectations #teachersoftiktok #genzteacher
