Personally, against ako sa Pax Silica. Hindi naman sa ayaw ko sa progress or sa technology, pero para sakin, hindi porket may possible jobs and investments, ibig sabihin okay na agad yung project. Maganda naman pakinggan na makakatulong siya sa economy and makakapagbigay ng opportunities sa mga Pilipino. Pero dapat isipin din natin yung possible effects nito sa environment and sa natural resources natin. Paano yung water and electricity na kakailanganin? Ano yung magiging effect nito sa mga lugar and communities na maaapektuhan? And most importantly, sure ba tayo na ordinary Filipinos talaga ang makikinabang dito in the long run? For me, hindi dapat puro “jobs” and “investments” lang yung tinitingnan natin. Kasi kung may economic benefits nga pero kapalit naman nun ay malaking damage sa environment or resources natin, worth it pa ba talaga? We also have to think about the future, hindi lang kung ano yung makukuha natin ngayon. Hindi rin ako against sa AI, semiconductors, or foreign investments. Alam naman natin na kailangan ng Pilipinas ng technology and development. Pero sana hindi ibig sabihin ng development ay kailangan nating isakripisyo yung environment or resources natin. We should be able to grow without putting our own country at risk. And honestly, I think valid lang din na magtanong at maging critical tayo about this. Hindi naman ibig sabihin na kapag against ka sa isang project, ayaw mo na agad sa progress or sa government. As citizens, may right tayo na malaman kung ano talaga yung agreement, ano yung possible risks, and kung paano mapoprotektahan yung interests ng Pilipinas. Kaya personally, against ako sa Pax Silica, at least sa ngayon. Hindi dahil ayaw ko ng progress, pero dahil gusto ko muna makita kung paano talaga mapoprotektahan yung environment, resources, and mga Pilipinong posibleng maapektuhan. Sana kapag may ganitong malalaking projects, hindi lang investors and companies ang iniisip, kundi pati yung ordinaryong Pilipino at yung future ng bansa. For me, okay lang magkaroon ng development, pero dapat responsible development. Kasi ano ang point ng pagiging technologically advanced kung sa huli, tayo rin yung mawawalan at maaapektuhan?

Just a few thoughts and questions, yes pax silica can provide new jobs and can help the Philippines advance through technology. But the problem is this country has a high rate of illiteracy, and since its a huge data center they’re gonna need more people who are more skilled in IT. They cant just be janitors, cleaning staff, yes construction workers but what if the projects done? There’s a reason why this country is not completely urbanized yet and its because we aren’t cooperating well with the budget, the resources, and like i said Illiteracy.
