Being a firstborn is really painful. I’m only 24, earning GH₵700 and still working for someone. I’m the first of three children, and none of our fathers really took responsibility for us. My mum tried her best as a single mother, but I had to start working during school vacations just to support myself. I even got into an abusive relationship at a young age because I was desperately looking for help. I completed SHS in 2021, and whenever I manage to save something to improve my own life, my mum gets sick or the family needs something, and I use everything to help. Now I watch people I completed SHS with moving forward, while I’m still struggling to build my own life. Sometimes being the firstborn means growing up too early and carrying responsibilities you never asked for 😭😭😭
