Hitting children as punishment has shown in numerous child psychology studies that it DOES NOT HELP. It only enforces fear in the child of their parent(s), lying, hiding mistakes or dangerous situations the child may be in from the parents, putting the child at risk because of the lack of trust they have in adults and their own parents. Plus, corporal punishment like that doesnt even teach a child why what they did was wrong. Alongside that, parents take things to far, WAY too often, hitting a child out of personal anger or contempt. Children shouldn’t fear consequences, they should learn from them properly.
