@lissette.nereida: I started sharing Puerto Rico content because I love showing the beauty of the island, the beaches, the food, the culture, the memories, the joy that raised me. But I can’t only share the beautiful parts. My father lives in Cabo Rojo, and he’s seeing firsthand how communities are changing. He’s watching people who have lived there for generations struggle to keep up with rising costs and development, while more and more of the island is being marketed toward people who can afford to pay more. And now we’re also watching a water crisis unfold. Yes, Puerto Rico is experiencing a drought, but the drought is also exposing a water system that has been struggling with infrastructure, maintenance and investment for years. That’s why projects like Esencia deserve our attention. This isn’t about being against development or progress. It’s about asking who benefits, who gets pushed out, and what happens to the people who already call this place home. Because when you start connecting the dots, housing, land, water, development and displacement, it becomes much bigger than one project. I know I live in the diaspora, but being away doesn’t mean I stopped caring. My family is there. My father is there. The people I love are there. And Puerto Rico is still home. So I’m going to keep learning, keep asking questions, and keep using this platform to talk about more than just the pretty parts of the island. If you’re Puerto Rican and part of the diaspora, I hope you’ll stay informed too. 🇵🇷 Because loving Puerto Rico means caring about what happens to Puerto Ricans. #projectesencia #puertorico🇵🇷 #puertoricowatercrisis #puertoricowater

So what’s more important, helping the island with this long scarcity water issue or building more luxury hotels so the rich can keep coming n making business in these wealthy high cost communities?

We first need to remove the unqualified governor and members who support her policies and actions. PR has been in shambles since the late 1990s when unqualified politicians like the present one did not care for the people and decided to sell many important economical gain for Puerto Rico to outsiders and never put money back into the communities nor educational system. PR is a small island of entrepreneurs for this specific reasons the people, start their own home business to strive and provide from barber, beauty techs and producing and selling their own goods. Food gastronomically business in PR is a main source of income. What’s shamed is that there’s millions of dollars made daily in PR by these tourist attractions who aren’t even PR companies and instead of aiding to the island crisis helping infrastructure water line system these billionaires rather shut down businesses and leave a huge debt and problem in the island. PR Needs a government that will take interest in the local economy and intelligent people there’s so many that have created and innovated ways to survive or fix temporary issues. We have overlooked engineers in our small towns and many do t have a college degree but they are actually great at creating new ways to aid themselves and family if the government takes a close look we be saving billions of dollars in investment not just throw money to this corporation like luma etc who continue to ask for millions with by out any progress the CEO is a native of Argentina and this brings me pause because our education system in PR was ran by a Russian native and was found guilty of corruption of millions of dollars these people do not care about our island. Why because they have no lineage to our culture and our people.I 🤲🏾 that one day my people realize that we aren’t supposed to let others take away from us. And we need to stop by self hating our island stating that “PR isn’t worth it or the people aren’t worth it”many phrases I see from my own who left the island to the states and believe their circumstances are better than in the island until years down the line they’ll see that our island will be no more our culture.

So if the development is to have its own water infrastructure, what prevents development of, for instance, plants to process sea water into potable, since its an island surrounded by water...big water? Oh, I'll wager its too costly 😡 But to do it for the rich it isn't! Get the fuck outta here!!!!
