I was 18 years old in 1979, when a group of 3 police officers accosted me, in Rose Mount, St. James. It was after 12 midnight and I was going across to the district of Glendevon. After questioning me and realizing that I was just a harmless and scared teen, one of the officers took it upon himself to hit me so hard with the Sterling Sub Machine Gun that I felt numb all over. One of his colleagues, upset at his action, castigated him. His response was, "Run before me kill yuh!" I fled and he fired, probably in the air because none of the shots caught me. I enlisted in the JCF, in 1984 and served until my retirement in 2021. The young men and women, even the ones whom I arrested, even today, show me nothing but respect. I met the police again, who hit me and in 2005, he was a civilian and needed a recommendation for a job and I wrote it for him. My respect 🙏 to you, Big Boss...for making a positive impact, in spite of your horrifying encounter with a cop who believed that he was master of the universe instead of a servant of the people.

bro as a former crime fighter I can identify with your experience I was living in maxfield Ave n had several encounters but after joining the crime fighting machinery I did choose not to abuse or overstep my powers towards a subject or civilian and after resigning I walk through many areas and respect with appreciation is spoken to me ....I'm in my late 50s now n my head shake to see how many of these Young officers are conducting themselves towards civilian who are not a threat to them not realizing those persons can in few months or years become the gatekeeper to their progress at a critical point

I had experience with police that was so bad that after driving away I had a different level of hate for them but then again you meet some other police that are very professional and that change the entire narrative. I have friends too who are also police officers. In life you can’t use generalizing because not all persons in the profession are the same.
