Coogler made Sinners, an original R-rated vampire film, for around $90M and still chose to shoot in IMAX 65mm and Ultra Panavision 65mm. That’s a huge creative and financial risk, and pulling it off on that budget is exactly why he deserves the praise.

This is a good point, for a fair comparison. I would feel a similar way if say Edgar Wright did it, there's a relatability he and Coogler have.

I dont think Nolan intends for audiences to see The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX, I think he intends for his audience to see the film in any capacity they can. The movie was made, with the IMAX cameras, the way it was because why wouldn't it have been? If you can make the movie filmed entirely in IMAX, why wouldnt you? Why limit the movies potential? Yeah it sucks that not everyone will see it in 70mm IMAX, but at least its an option yk? Id rather it be an option then it not.

In my personal opinion the reason why Ryan cogluer ( sorry if I miss spelled his name) is better because Christopher Nolan makes good looking movies with good shots here and there but Ryan makes movies where every shot is not only beautiful but there could be no dialogue in a scene and you it still makes you feel

I legitimately do not understand why this is a fucking issue. you don't have to see it in IMAX. Christopher Nolan and Ryan coogler are both extremely talented artists who have a specific taste for tools in their craft.

The correct answer is bc Nolan made the ENTIRE thing on IMAX. Ryan Coogler didn’t do the ENTIRE film on imax. Nolan also just sounds pretentious.

Not to mention IMAX is never going to be more accessible until there’s a bigger demand for it. Big difference between a few scenes and an entire movie, everyone’s calling it an elitist move but the reality is that the Odyssey is going to usher in a new wave of IMAX movies where there will be no choice than to up the number of projectors (something IMAX is now doing because of the movie)

Because the comments want to misinterpret everything. Nolan comes off more as a Quintin Tarantino discussing film (not nearly as bad QT but both speak about film while disregarding general audiences) while Ryan Coogler speaks about film as if he talking to friend who he’s trying to get into film.

Well it’s just the marketing in reality… sinners was promoted on being a new fresh horror, which had 70mm in it (even if that 70mm was phenomenally utilised) The odyssey was promoted as a 70mm movie, not just the movie it is.
