MDs have higher GPAs and MCAT scores than DOs. Much harder to get into competitive residencies as a DO. Once done ZERO difference. Almost no one wants to go to DO school, they end up at DO schools when they don’t get into MD schools

My husband is a D.O. - BC orthopedic surgeon, matched his #1 residency choice and his # fellowship in a top ranked program.There is ZERO difference perceived between MD or DO with those whose opinion really matters, the med community and patients. Keep your head high girlie 💪🏽

MD schools are HARDER to get into due to higher stats and the overall ‘prestige’, but DO schools are HARDER education pathways.. they also do MORE (they have an extra exam, and study OMM)…

I know people just do MD vs DO stigma posts as clickbait for easy engagement but I’d respect it more if OMSs and DOs that make stigma posts instead commented on the systemic flaws in COCA and called for reform, including questioning the utility of still teaching OMM. DO students deserve a better experience.

My favourite doctors have always been DO’s I’ve genuinely always gotten better care from them and I miss my lifelong doctor now that I’m on military healthcare. My old PCP has literally cared for my great grandparents, grandparents, my parents, and siblings. He’s always been the best doctor I ever had
