“I do it for myself, not for the male gaze.” Calling an outfit “hot and sexy” already acknowledges that it communicates sexual attractiveness. That does not prove every woman dresses solely for male attention, but pretending appearance, social reaction, and validation play no role whatsoever is usually dishonest. You can enjoy how you look and enjoy being perceived as attractive. Those motives are not mutually exclusive. The strange part is insisting everyone else must ignore the obvious social meaning of the presentation...then calling them a self-obsessed freak for noticing it. This is face tattoo syndrome logic.

Then you wore it, because you thought there was a possibility that he was some sort of self absorbed freak? Then he verified that showing irreconcilable differences? That seems like a prime example where being nonchalant is a dating requirement. It’s too much to think that someone likes you and is trying to draw you into being more into them. Then you cannot allow something like that to draw you into a person if you think they are into you. Then it is somehow still a crime for some women that think they don’t like men being nonchalant. I think they do, but they just don’t realize it. Making it a thing makes them want someone they don’t actually want. Knowing you’re a likable person has to remain some deep dark hidden mysterious secret. It seems like something happened with society where it is not acceptable for two people to really like each other and be more drawn to each other, when it seems like that’s why you should be dating someone to begin with. You have a special interest in that person. Maybe, it is just experiencing that. Dating someone that you don’t have a special interest in where you are not ready to have something like that in the open to take it that far. It shouldn’t mean that no one has any self restraint.
