OH MY GOD. SHE DID THAT TO ME AT A COFFEE SHOP I USED TO WORK AT IN SUNNYSIDE LITERALLY PRE-PANDEMIC AROUND 2019. I remember her so welllllll because she tried to do it a second time a week later and I was like yeah nice try lady. That’s hilarious that she’s still doing it.

Technically, if she have you a $50, she would have been $30 short in her change. She's a very bad short change artist.

True story. When I was in college a lady tried to scam my workplace like that. Then I saw her trying to pull it somewhere else. The manager there said, yeah, she's got a reputation. Here's the real kicker: I went to a class first day of my second year and...she was the professor! It was a business ethics class. Can't make this up.

I count it back to them down to the penny like the bank. Never put it in their hands directly. I don't care when $$ is on the line for the business.

This is why I always count it back to them, bc then we both heard that I gave you the correct change. So if you do say I shorted you, I definitely know I didn't, and anyone else who was around heard us too

Someone did something to me once when I was a cashier at Marshall’s. We have those .99 cent reusable bags. She would give you $100 bill then after you opened the register she would say oh wait I found $1! You would give her $100 back look down and she would switch them and say oh wait you gave me the $1 back not the $100 and she’d walk away with $100 crazy!

Always put the money on the top of the register until she counts her change. Slow it down the next customer can wait their turn . Good you had a camera.

Happened to me twice while working at McDonald’s in high school. I didn’t think any better of it the first time and my drawer was short $10. Then I knew about it when it happened a second time lady tried to distract me by asking me about the nail salon behind us. She said you are short $10 I said oh sorry my bad let me get my manager real quick to count my drawer and she left without even getting her food.

That move was done in the film Grifters. John Cusack's character got a serious punch in the stomach for it.

..and NEVER put the money in the compartment prior to giving change because they can claim they gave you $20 when it was a $10. This way you can show the $10 that was still out. So many ppl are forgetful and so many sneaky ppl too.

Bxb0y427 :
A quick change scam is a theft trick where someone deliberately confuses a cashier during a cash transaction to walk away with extra money. Here’s how it typically works: 1. A customer buys a low-cost item and pays with a large bill (for example, $100). 2. After the cashier opens the register and starts making change, the customer suddenly asks to pay with different bills or requests different denominations. 3. They repeatedly change their mind (“Actually, here’s a $20… no, wait, can I get two $10s instead?”). 4. While talking quickly and creating pressure, they try to make the cashier lose track of the money exchanged. 5. If successful, they leave with more cash than they’re entitled to.
