I’m a huge baseball fan and I’ve never heard of this rule…so he went back to 2nd bc the ball was caught, why does it matter if he touched 3rd? He went back bc he didn’t tag up…

So say it’s a really high pop up. He runs to 3rd and stops there. Ball is caught. He runs back to 2nd. Is he out because he doesn’t take his foot off 3rd and double tap it before he runs back? This rule only makes sense if you round the base. Stupid

but again he didn't advance past it, he turned around. If I'm standing on third I don't have to lift my foot off and retouch to go back. no body does with run downs, seems to me it is no different

Umpires should work for free and he missed that call ? Guy touched the bag 3 times from going to third and back to second im so done with baseball and sports in general its so fake

simple explanation; if you touch a base and run past it (like he did) then you have to touch it again. if you touch it and just stay on it, you can just run back to the previous base.

the hand touch and release is considered rounding third. he has to touch the bag again when returning to second. a rule is a rule. if you dont like, watch/play another sport!

I mean, technically, he was touching the bag when he turned to head BACK to second so he clearly did touch the bag. kinda used his feet and hand on the bag to turn himself back to second. bad call
