It breaks my heart that Azula was literally all he had left cause he understood his father was no hope. Im sure standing there watching her break down in the end made him feel like there was hope for her, that she could improve. He looks so heartbroken. This was the most well written sibling rivalry, fighting for the throne and the prodigy snaps and loses her perfect touch after getting what she wanted. She wanted to be loved so bad that it ruined her. Sometimes I think if Zuko told her that he still loved her and wanted to help her she would have been ok. I like the theory that the lady using fire bending to heal Korra is Azula after finding closure and accepting her past. it gives me comfort knowing that she wasnt just doomed and probably thrown in a jail.

Zuko and Azula are doomed siblings, and that’s why the Katara/Azula parallel matters just as much as Aang/Zuko. Katara and Azula are both gifted 14-year-old prodigies, deeply shaped by their mothers, with older brothers. The difference is Katara gets the sibling relationship with Sokka that Zuko and Azula were denied. Because at his core, Zuko is a big brother. And Katara becomes, in many ways, the little sister he always wanted to be able to have. Not a replacement for Azula, but the kind of relationship he desperately wanted with Azula: someone he can protect, argue with, support, and without their father turning them against each other. You even see that older-brother instinct extend toward Toph, especially as they get older. It’s why Ba Sing Se is so tragic. Zuko is genuinely moving toward healing with Iroh when Azula appears, and it doesn’t take much to pull him back. That’s his little sister. He desperately wants to believe they can fight together, go home together, and finally be a family. And then The Southern Raiders gives him Katara, a younger sister carrying her own wound surrounding her mother. Zuko couldn’t help Azula through that pain or save their sibling relationship, but he CAN help her. That’s to me Zuko arc and the story being built. Sokka/Katara show the sibling bond Zuko always wanted. Zuko/Azula show how that bond was destroyed. And once Zuko finds his real family in the Gaang, he finally gets to actually be the big brother he always was.

Remember on the Beach episode with Zuko and Azula and Zuko was sitting near their family’s beach house and Azula was the one who looked for him and told him to come back to beach with her because the place was depressing and he followed her? There was love in that scene alone that never got to embrace itself because of their father. Idc what people say, they LOVED each other during that Agni Kai 😭 life played in my babies faces so bad

their arc is so tragic it breaks my heart everyday that Azula wasn't given redemption :( she was only 14 years old ;( she was failed by everyone in her life, I HATE Ozai for being their abuser because could you just imagine how capable and powerful they would have been together as a force for good? Azula deserved a chance but not one adult in her life thought she was worth a second chance 💔 this edit is peak btw the crowd isn't here yet but the song fits them perfectly

Sometimes I think about the fact that If Ozai had locked in as a father and actually treated both of them like he loved them they really would have been unstoppable. Cause alone Ozai, Azula, Iroh and Zuko are all machines that absolutely kick ass so imagine if they actually worked together from the beginning for the same goal. Like imagine Azula if she also had training by Iroh and Zuko if he had proper training from his father, absolute monsters. A shame really.
