we had 4 players in our party and we split up. half died the other half survived. so yeah splitting the party is very dangerous

one of my players "John's encounters aren't that hard, but they're fun." I then had a homebrew clockwork hag rip their new hireling pit fighter warforged Smash-a-Tron in half and the fight was an absolute slog. 16 rounds and getting slapped around and each player except the high iq wizard got knocked down at least once.

We were playing Paranoia. Players were exploring a secret simplex which was used as a testing ground for breeding new mutations. They have found a terminal of the scientists with the mutation catalogue. It had a standard warning. There was a hidden registry. When they entered it, there was a warning - ultraviolet access required. They chose to proceed. Second warning popped up. "No, seriously, if what's inside gets known, you'll die, your entire lines will get scrubbed, and everyone around you will die as well. If you're going to proceed anyway, at least make sure that NOBODY notices." This level of explicitness, right? 😂 They proceed right away. They get a file on "Machine Sympathy" mutation, the one thing the Computer actually fears, since it can be used to control It. Then they see white as the entire simplex got nuked 💀 They didn't even turn off the standard-issue radio-and-monitoring equipment - a direct information line to the Computer 😂

literally just had a number 3 moment tonight. our team is messed up, we find a Dark Souls bonfire that let's you get a long rest during the time of a short rest, instead of resting we pushed on just a little bit and our squishy rogue and myself a fighter barbarian multi class, went down in round 1 to FUCKING PLANTS

Honestly I do not mind if you split the party. I WANT to give the rogue a lil heist to make them feel cool and badass without the paladin looking over their shoulder judgmentally while clanking around in armor. I also want to give the paladin a lil holy chore without having to worry about the rogue stealing sacred relics.

listen, listen we didn't tpk when we split the party!! we /almost/ had an accidental tpk last session because dm didnt think about how we've lost a player when she leveled up the enemies and we almost got slimed because of it
