An end of term school meeting should not be simply pointing out teachers' mistakes. it should be an opportunity to reflect,listen, improve and prepare. 1 .APPRECIATE YOUR STAFF. •Recognise teachers' efforts and commitment. • Appreciate your support staff. • celebrate achievements and improvements. • Mention special contributions where necessary. 2. REVIEW THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE. • What did learners achieve? • Which areas improved? •Which areas remained weak? • Which learners need additional support. 3. REVIEW TEACHER PERFORMANCE. • punctuality and attendance. •Lesson preparation. •Assessment and record keeping. •classroom management. •Professional conduct. •completion of schemes and responsibilities. 4.DISCUSS WHAT DIDN'T WORK. Don't pretend everything was perfect. Ask •Which challenges did teachers face through our the term.? •What contributed to those challenges?. •What can be done differently next term? 5. GIVE TEACHERS' A VOICE. Ask teachers. • Which support do they need from administration next term? • What should we do as a school? •What made your work difficult this term? A teacher should be evaluated buh a teacher should also be heard. 6. REVIEW PARENTS RELATIONS. • How were parents received? • Were complaints handled professionally? • Was communication effective? • What feed back did parents give? What can we improve next term? 7. EVALUATE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP. school leaders should also reflect. ASK. " What could we as management, have done better?" leadership should not only evaluate teachers. leadership must also be willing to evaluate itself. 8.IDENTIFY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS. Find out where teachers need support. •classroom management. •Assessment. •Child centered learning. •customer care. •Teacher professionalism. • Inclusive learning. 9.SET CLEAR PRIORITIES FOR NEXT TERM. Don't leave the meeting with complaints only. Agree on: •What needs to change? •Who will be responsible? •When should it happen? •What out come is expected? 10. END WITH ENCOURAGEMENT. Don't let teachera leave feeling defeated. Remind them of : Their value . Their contribution. The school's vision. The learners depending on them. The opportunities a head.
