Karl Marx was born on **May 5, 1818**, in **Trier**, then part of the Kingdom of Prussia. He grew up in a middle-class family and studied law and philosophy at the universities of Bonn and Berlin. Influenced by German philosophy, Marx developed a deep interest in politics, economics, and social justice. In 1843, he married **Jenny von Westphalen**, who remained his lifelong companion despite years of poverty and hardship. Marx met **Friedrich Engels** in 1844, beginning one of history's most influential intellectual partnerships. Together they wrote **The Communist Manifesto**, which argued that history is shaped by class struggle and called for workers to unite against exploitation. After political persecution, Marx settled in **London**, where he spent the rest of his life. Although his family faced severe financial difficulties, he continued researching and writing. His most significant work, **Das Kapital**, analyzed capitalism, labor, and economic inequality, becoming one of the most influential books in political and economic thought. Marx's health declined after the deaths of his wife and eldest daughter. He suffered from chronic illnesses during his later years but continued working whenever possible. On **March 14, 1883**, Karl Marx died in London at the age of **64**. He was buried in **Highgate Cemetery>**. Although controversial, Marx's ideas profoundly shaped world history. His theories inspired socialist and communist movements across the globe, influenced revolutions, and continued to spark debate in economics, politics, sociology, and philosophy. Today, Karl Marx remains one of the most studied and influential thinkers of the modern era.
