@teethtalkgirl: luckily your dental hygienist CANNOT give you gum disease! the numbers are simply measurements of your gum health. the perio probe is a ruler (measures in millimeters) and we check the size of the space between your gums and your teeth. if the space is between 1-3mm, then it’s considered healthy/normal! 4 can indicate inflammation/suspicious areas. 5+ often indicates disease. #dentalhygienist #gumdisease #dentalhygiene @Ben Golay
