Yep, I’m in the same position with my dad. System is horrible. Had to move in and care 100% for him. Left my work and away from my husband and I am constantly trying to juggle everything. Nobody cares… it is not okay and it feels very lonely.😔🥺😢

Everyone says they should have" planned better." Can the average person figure out a way to have a minimum of 10k monthly to pay for a nursing home?

My dad has dementia and my mom is getting to the point where she can't keep him at home anymore. They worked hard and saved for retirement but memory care is $650 per DAY! Medicare doesn't cover it and Mediciad will not kick in until everything they saved is gone. There is now way to plan for that. WE NEED UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!

I don’t see very many men stepping up to fill the role either. It’s always the daughters and granddaughters sacrificing mentally physically and financially for aging parents and even in laws. I believe that’s why nothing will change bc it really doesn’t affect men at all

Boomers brought this on themselves. They have fought tooth and nail for this system. My mother was horribly abusive and has continued into my adulthood. I tried. I truly did but when she did her best to destroy my relationship with my children I decided I was completely finished with her. She voted for the policies that are keeping this system in place. She’s disabled and 76. She will not live with me nor will I do anything to help her further.

Kamala was going to help us with this. But here we are. I went through this with my mom, she lived with us and fought me every step of the way. Then my mother in law was in an assisted living home 12,000 a month and she was there for 3 years. I don’t ever want to put my kids through this. I will plan to go out if I have to.

My mom passed away on Labor Day. She had Alzheimer’s and I took care of her for 12yrs while working full time as a nurse without any help. I thought I was going to die before her because of the stress I was under.

there is NO help! My mom thankfully got accepted to ft nursing home. She refused any therapy for a fall so it took 2 and 1/2 yrs to make her own decision to not live any longer. Passed peacefully in nursing home 🙏

You will get punished if you worked for any money,, that’s why spend Dow have more than. 2 k in the bank. You get punished for having worked. Nope my Italian family in Italy can actually take a breath without worrying about all of this

I’m a caregiver for my grandma and have been since 2023. We’ve been living together since 2019. Totally unpaid, live in and it’s alot to handle. I’m 28 and feel like I’m just alive to keep her satisfied. I tried to leave last October and she manipulated me into staying, my life has gotten progressively worse. I have no help from family. She’s mean and manipulative at times. She also wants me to bring in income, but I literally can’t find any work and if I do I will be overwhelmed and it will have to be remote. I was sorta caregiver for my mentally ill mother from 18-21, not trained and alone. This cycle is so bad. This might sound morbid, but I’m relieved because my grandma is the last one I have to do this for. My father passed in 2016 and my other grandparents passed years ago. I refuse to deal with my mother again and we’ve been no contact since 2019 so she’ll be left to the state or whatever. And I’m also an only child as well 😭!
