We use to camp a lot in high desert areas with this same type of landscape: dry, tumbleweeds. There was always a burn ban in the summer, so no campfires. Propane fire pits were legal, but yes, they never put out much heat. Just good for atmosphere and marshmallows. This looks interesting

It’s Top heavy, easily can fall with a collapsing base or whatever rock it’s sitting on. You still need propane. That doohickey you used to light it is all you need. 🪵 that’s a N.O.
